Artalk in association with The Pharos Trust and the Department of Design / Intercollege present a series of art seminars with the title, Art on the Move: Situating New Nomadism, Migration and Mobility within Contemporary Art. These seminars aim to inform, stimulate, and generally raise the level of critical debate within our community. The speakers are internationally established and highly regarded practising artists, curators, critics, writers and educators of art.

These seminars are open to the general public and free of charge.

Catherine David has just completed her tenure as the director of Witte de With, center for comtemporary art in Rotterdam, the Netherlands 2002 - 2004. She has worked as a curator at the Musee National d'Art Moderne Centre Georges Pompidou and the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris. Between 1989 - 1991 she was a professor at the Ecole du Louvre where she lectured on contemporary art and was Artistic Director of the Documenta X, Kassel, 1994 - 1997. She has curated a large number of exhibitions, including: Jean-Piearre Bertrand; Reinhard Mucha; Moholy-Nagy (IVAM Vanlencia, Musee Cantini Marseille, Museum Fredericaianum Kassel); Stan Douglas Monodramas and Television Spots; Marcel Broodthaers; Eva Hesse; Desordres; Suzanne Lafontl; Jeff Wall.
