The Pharos Trust, in cooperation with the Embassy of Brazil in Cyprus,
presents a Brazilian Night, on Friday 6 October 2006 at the University of
Cyprus Cultural Centre in Nicosia. The evening’s programme will feature
live Brazilian music
and a
Samba and Capoeira Show with the Batucada Amazonas, Brazilian singer
Fernando Seixas, as well as a prize draw,
with first prize two return tickets to Rio de Janeiro courtesy of British
Airways and many other prizes.
The show will
be accompanied by Brazilian food and drinks, and will be followed by a
party with
D.J Brasiloca, playing Brazilian music, until the early hours.

The Batucada Amazonas
The Batucada
Amazonas is a marching percussion ensemble playing the syncopated,
African-influenced dance music of Brazil, including up to 35 musicians,
dancers and singers.The musicians and dancers have appeared in various
countries like Israel, Germany,
Italy, Turkey and have performed with many Brazilian singers like
Daniela mercury, Banda Olodum, Revista do Samba, Tenira da silva, and
Fernando Seixas .Amongst the members of the band are musicians who have
played with the best of the Brazilian bands
/Escola
de Samba such as “Beija- Flor”, “Uniao da Ilha”, “Santa Cruz” and who
currently perform with various Samba groups around the world.

Fernando
Seixas is a Brazilian recording artist, vocalist, composer and guitarist,
born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. During the years 1984 to 1988, Fernando
studied Composition and Conducting at the UFBA Federal University of Bahia,
Brazil and has earned a Bachelors degree.
He performs in many countries and sings in Portuguese, Spanish, English and
Hebrew. Fernando Seixas has released two albums with great success and is
now working on his third album.
D.J. Brasiloca
D.J. Braziloca
has started his way in the Latino-Brazilian world 9 years ago as a dancer
and later as an instructor and a D.J. specialising is Brazilian music.
For the past 2 years he has been taking part in International Latin
Congresses, being in charge of the Brazilian music part.
