BRAZILIAN CULTURE MONTH
OCTOBER 2007
For the fourth consecutive year, the Honorary Consulate of Brazil in Cyprus and the Pharos Trust present the Brazilian Culture Month, a series of events dedicated to the arts and culture of Brazil. The events which are organised in collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy in Cyprus, showcase aspects of Brazilian culture through art, music, dance, films and books and they have become a very popular part of Cyprus’ cultural life.

Events are taking place throughout the month of October at various venues in Nicosia, including classical and contemporary music, an exhibition by a contemporary Brazilian artist, the launch of an important art publication, a film festival, schools projects, the Brazilian book month, as well as the promotion of trade and commerce with Brazil through the Consulate’s website.

Brazilian Music Evening with Brazilian singer Ive Mendes
The Brazilian Month welcomes for the first time in Cyprus the Brazilian singer Ive Mendes in an evening of soul and pop Brazilian music, at the Half Note Music Club in Limassol.

Brazilian Book Month
Organised in association with the Moufflon Bookshop, presenting a selection of books (in English) showcasing the richness and diversity of Brazilian culture. Books will be available at the Moufflon Bookshop, through the internet (www.moufflon.com.cy) and at all venues of the Brazilian Culture Month.


Brazil in the Primary School
The educational series Brazil in the Primary School, will be organised for the first time in Cyprus, during the forthcoming academic year in cooperation with two primary schools in Nicosia - The Highgate Primary School and The Junior School.  The educational series of classes Brazil in Primary School designed for primary school students, aims to initiate and promote the development of awareness of Brazil and the multisided aspects of the country.
