Since its formation in 1991, Florilegium has established a reputation for stylish and exciting interpretations of music from the baroque era to the early romantic revolution. Florilegium held the coveted post of Ensemble in Residence at the Wigmore Hall from March 1998 until July 2000 and during that time performed several series of concerts each year and became actively involved in the Hall's education work. Their last season as Ensemble in Residence featured a six-concert series marking the 250th anniversary of J.S.Bach's death. Concert engagements have taken Florilegium throughout Eastern and Western Europe and to North and South America, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Australia, Israel and Turkey with recent performances at the Sydney Opera House, Frick Collection in New York, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, The Concertgebauw in Amsterdam, The Vienna Konzerthaus in Austria, Beethoven Haus in Bonn, Handelhaus in Halle, and Theatre Grevin in Paris. Florilegium works with some of the world's finest musicians and recent engagements have featured guest artists including Emma Kirkby, Derek Lee Ragin, and Andrew Manze. Following their first collaboration with the Bach Choir and David Hill during the Easter 2002 Season, Florilegium have been frequent guests of the Bach Choir at the Royal Festival Hall. The group has made 14 recordings for the Dutch label Channel Classics and many of these have been awarded prizes. The soprano Sine Bundgaard studied at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music and the Opera Academy at the Royal Theatre, both in Copenhagen. She made her professional debut at the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen, as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro in 1999 and has since performed in major venues in France, Switzerland, Sweden, England and Germany. In 2006 she will make her debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Flakemilli in Arabella. Equally at home on the concert platform, Sine Bundgaard has sung the soprano solo in many of the big oratorio works including the Brahms Requiem, Carmina Burana, Faure Requiem, Mozart's Exultate Jubilate, St. John Passion and Bach's Magnificat. Sine Bundgaard was Artist of the Year, 2004 for Danish National Radio. | |
