| Javier Perianes When young Spanish pianist Javier Perianes (b. 1978) achieved first place in the 43rd International Piano Competition in Jaen, Spain in April 2001, one of the most prestigious and challenging contests of its kind in the world, he astonished the jury and the public alike for the depth and poetry of his performance. Since then, he has also won numerous prizes in major competitions in Spain as well as in Portugal and Sweden. Perianes has toured extensively throughout Spain and has made concert appearances in Paris and Lisbon. In March 2002, he made his North American debut with the Symphonic Orchestra of Mexico. He has recorded a CD with works by Schubert, Beethoven, Granados and Falla, as well as Debussy's First Book of Preludes. |
