Brazilian inspiration not to be missed
For once more, the Pharos Arts Foundation chooses the city of Limassol to
host its Brazilian jazz music gig. The show will take place at PlusSea
Lifestyle Bar, the ultimate summer venue, located on the non-interruptive virgin coast
named Coral Beach in Limassol.
Rodrigo Lampreia is a happy hipster who hails from Rio de Janeiro. The
singer & songwriter is touring Europe for the second time, bringing along
his wonderful melodies and delightful harmonies which express all the
stunning influences he has enjoyed whilst growing up in Brazil's capital.
Famous for the Samba and Bossa Nova, the carnival that is regarded by many
as the greatest show on Earth, the natural splendours of Copacabana and
Sugar Loaf and its nightlife that is second to none, Rio de Janeiro is
reflected in Rodrigo Lampreia's music. His mix of contemporary and classic
songs, where pop music meets Samba and Bossa Nova in a jazzy-funky way is
impressive as Lampreia's interpretations are extremely personal and
uplifting. His programmes are also enriched by his own songs.
Following in the footsteps of legends such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso
and Seu Jorge, Rodrigo Lampreia has appeared in many of Europe's great
venues and festivals, including Favela Chic, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, The
Brompton Club and The Halo Bar. In one of his appearances at Jazz After
Dark, Lampreia duetted with pop-star singer Amy Winehouse who lavished
praise on his performance. These amazingly enriching experiences have added
zest and provided the final touches to his debut album, shortly to be
released upon his return to Brazil.
Lampreia believes that experimentation is what music should be all about.
From taking Brazilian music to the dancing floor, to promoting informal
street sessions open to whoever catches the Samba virus, exactly as it
happens in Rio, to bigger gigs involving large groups of percussionists, all
the way to the intimacy of the jazz houses of Soho and Camden Town in
London, Rodrigo Lampreia made sure he explored all the musical avenues along
the way.
A warm and charismatic performer, Rodrigo Lampreia takes you to a place
where people are beautiful, the caipirinha is sweet and the conversation is
easy.
