Lecture Series
The Pharos Arts Foundation Lecture
Series serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas by influential thinkers
on issues ranging from arts to philosophical and political questions.
During the spring of 2005, Pharos hosted a series of art seminars in
co-operation with Artalk Ltd titled 'Art on the Move: Situating New Nomadism,
Migration and Mobility within Contemporary Art'. Participants included
internationally established practicing artists, curators, critics, writers
and educators. In 2008, Pharos continued its collaboration with Artalk and
hosted two lectures, one by Andrew Benjamin on 'Painting in the era of
digital reproducibility' and another by Jannis Kounellis.
Other lectures and workshops include: Professor Richard Geldard's 'Heraclitus: Ancient Mystic, Modern Guide' lecture in 2003, Baroness Cox,
Deputy Speaker of the UK House of Lords lecture on human rights issues and
Professor Victor Bulmer-Thomas, Director of the Royal Institute of
International Affairs (RIIA) in London, popularly known as Chatham House, in
2001, gave a lecture entitled 'Co-operation and tension in the transatlantic
relationship'.
