MESSAGE FROM MRS. LILLA IRENE CLERIDES It is with great pleasure that I welcome the Choir of Lincoln College, Oxford to Cyprus and wish them a successful tour of our island. Two years ago the Pharos Trust brought the Moscow Armenian Cappella Choir to Cyprus and we were privileged to hear wonderful singing from the Armenian and Russian church music tradition of the Eastern Orthodox Churches. Once again we have been given the opportunity to listen to the finest Choral music, this time representing the long and rich West European tradition. I firmly believe that Choral singing has great healing power. In a troubled and confused world, seemingly adrift, the power of divinely inspirited music can contribute to a return to sanity and equilibrium. It is my sincere hope that the harmonies we hear from this great University Choir will contribute to our inner harmony; so necessary if we are to create a world at peace with itself.
