MESSAGE FROM the Rector of Lincoln College

There are few places on earth as beautiful as Cyprus or as friendly. it is a huge privilege therefore, as well as a pleasure, for the Lincoln College Choir to have the opportunity of singing there this summer. Lincoln College which, despite its name, is in Oxford, was founded by a Bishop of Lincoln in the year 1427. Since then it has educated young people and they have lived, worked and worshipped within its walls in the very centre of Oxford. The College's Chapel, an architectural gem of 1630, is the setting in which this Choir is accustomed to sing Evensongs on every Sunday during term. In recent years they have been in demand elsewhere, both in England and abroad, and they have issued three successful CDs.

Both Oxford in general and Lincoln College in particular have links with Cyprus through old students from Cyprus who have returned to work there, not least the Choir's host on this occasion, Garo keheyan. We are delighted to forge another link in the chain of friendship between Cyprus and britain. The Choir takes great pleasure in the opportunity to visit Cyprus and hopes to give pleasure in return.
